Frequently Asked Questions

What is a mezuzah?

A mezuzah is a small case traditionally placed on the right side of a Jewish doorway, holding a parchment scroll with passages from the Torah. The mezuzah is a small but powerful symbol on the doorpost, reminding us of Jewish values and the blessings of a Jewish home. Passing by, people often touch it and kiss their fingertips as a gesture of love and respect for this mitzvah.

Does the mezuzah include the scroll?

Our mezuzah cases do NOT include a scroll. We recommend a 4" scroll.

Where do I place the mezuzah?

It is usually placed on the right doorpost as you enter the room, at the upper third of the doorway, slightly tilted inward.

Can I personalize my mezuzah?

Yes, most of our Mezuzahs have a personalization option...we can even make custom changes.

Do mezuzahs make good gifts?

Absolutely! Mezuzahs make beautiful housewarming, wedding, new baby, and bar/bat mitzvah gifts.

What are these mezuzahs made from?

Our Mezuzahs are custom made from clear acrylic and printed using professional UV printing for long-lasting color.

How do I hang these mezuzahs?

Our Mezuzahs are easy to hang using the double-adhesive that is already attached to the back of the Mezuzah. Please be sure the clean the area you will be placing the Mezuzah and let it dry thoroughly before adhering the Mezuzah.

Before affixing the mezuzah, say the appropriate blessing. The blessing is: "Baruch atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech ha-olam, asher kid'shanu b'mitzvotav v'tzivanu likboa mezuzah." This blessing thanks God for sanctifying us with His commandments and commanding us to affix a mezuzah.

As a custom, some people may recite the Shema or kiss their fingers and touch the mezuzah upon affixing it.
